AMD Ryzen CPUs have once again managed to surpass Intel Core CPUs in the Korean DIY market, as reported by Danwa Research.
Danawa Research, the leading Korean research outlet that compiles analytics data from various major DIY outlets has released their latest report which shows that AMD is once again leading over Intel in terms of CPU sales and volume. The Korean market has not been favorable to any specific brand and usually selects the CPUs based on their price and value proposition.
This is why after years of growth with the AM4 platform, the market for AMD's Ryzen CPUs started to decline against strong 12th Gen and 13th Gen offerings from Intel however in Q4 2023, that is changing and the latest monthly results show that AMD is once again on the top. The latest data shows that AMD was able to achieve a 50.75% market share in the DIY segment compared to the 49.25% market share of Intel CPUs.
While this is a very neck-on-neck share, it should be reported that Intel CPUs have been on a declining trend since August of 2023 and it looks like the main reason for this decline can be attributed to the lowering of prices for Ryzen CPUs, AM5 motherboards, DDR5 memory and also the availability of more SKUs.
The report shows that AMD's Ryzen AM5 CPUs now retain a 55.3% share of all CPUs sold in the month of October (2023) compared to AM4 CPUs which have a share of 44.7%. It's still superb for AM4 to be this strong despite being an older platform and it is also due to the fact that the older Ryzen 5000/4000/3000 CPUs & APUs offer tremendous value. Plus the Ryzen 7 5800X3D has been a crowd-pleaser in the DIY segment which had pushed AM4 sales to new heights earlier in the year.
But now, there are X3D options available in the Ryzen
