The first benchmarks of AMD's upcoming Ryzen 9 8940HS "Hawk Point" APU have been leaked and it's mostly the same chip as the 7940HS with slightly better performance.
The AMD Ryzen 9 8940HS APU will be part of the upcoming Ryzen 8040 "Hawk Point" family which will be a refresh of the existing Ryzen 7040 "Phoenix" family. The APUs will feature the same Zen 4 and RDNA 3 core architecture while featuring compatibility on the existing FP7, FP7R2, and FP8 platforms for mobile chips.
Starting with the specifications, the AMD Ryzen 9 8940HS "100-000001319-50_Y" APU features a total of 8 cores and 16 threads. It has a base clock of 4.0 GHz and a boost clock of 5.2 GHz so we might be getting the same specifications as the Ryzen 9 7940HS with a few optimizations here & there. The chip also features the same 16 MB of L3 and 8 MB of L2 cache and the TDP should be rated between 35-54W. As Momomo_US and HXL have posted, this is confirmed to be the Ryzen 8000 "Hawk Point" APU rather than a desktop AM5 APU:

There are no details on whether the graphics side has received any bump in terms of clock speeds but the core configuration should remain the same as the existing Radeon 780M iGPU with 12 compute units. The chip also features the same RDNA 3 architecture as recently revealed. The APU was running inside a laptop with 32 GB of DDR5-4800 memory but no vendor was mentioned.
