The first trailer for the upcoming series by Amazon based on the Lord of the Rings franchise, The Rings of Power, was just revealed during the Super Bowl. In the one-minute-long teaser, fans got to see some familiar faces, dramatic scenery, and a couple of action sequences. The event is known for its amazing advertisements and the Super Bowl was definitely no disappointment this time around.
“Haven’t you ever wondered what else is out there,” a currently unnamed character in the trailer asks. “There’s wonders in this world beyond our wandering. I can feel it.”

In addition to a variety of other lands, the trailer takes viewers to the island of Numenor. This realm is home to several human kings which became corrupted after receiving the eponymous Rings of Power from Sauron. These went on to become the infamous Nazgul. Numenor is known for having been an important player in the politics of Middle-Earth before sinking into the sea and subsequently disappearing beneath the waves. What tales might be told in this particular part of the world remains to be seen.
The trailer shows what seem to be Hobbits in addition to several Dwarves including Prince Durin and Princess Disa who can be seen in Moria before this region of Middle-Earth fell into ruin. Galadriel and Elrond can also be seen striking some pretty impressive poses.
“Before the king,” the trailer notes. “Before the fellowship. Before the ring. A new legend begins this fall.” The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power can be streamed from Amazon Prime starting on September 2, 2022.
