After a dismal year for the video game industry, 2025 is looking much brighter and much busier — if only because Rockstar Games plans to release Grand Theft Auto 6 in 2025, and Nintendo promises to deliver a successor to the wildly popular Switch and a bunch of new games to launch with it.
Those aren’t the only highly anticipated sequels coming in 2025. Video game fans can also expect Sid Meier’s Civilization 7, Death Stranding 2, Doom: The Dark Ages, the new Fable, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Monster Hunter Wilds, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and Slay the Spire 2. Beyond sequels, there are some other big bets on the calendar for 2025, like Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, Judas, Riot’s fighting game 2XKO, and South of Midnight. Suffice to say, it’s currently looking like a big, big year.
Video game release dates are always in flux, though, so Polygon’s guide to the new video games coming in 2025 will be regularly updated with new titles, release dates, and (inevitable) delays.
