TheAlbion Online team continues their series of dev talks to unveil new features in the works. This week, they introduce Awakened and Legendary items.
Game director Robin Henkys introduces the team’s goals in adding these new items. Those are important, since they are ways of adding more content for players to contribute to their own story and experience, in addition to creating something significant and also feels like an accomplishment.
Making an item Awakened is the first step to making it Legendary. They are paired, and so these will require effort and intentional steps to acquiring what you want. Awakened weapons are coming in the next Albion Online content update, so the team is starting there.
In order for an item to become Awakened and gain this new status, it must already have Pristine Enchantment. Once that is set, you'll be able to earn attunement points through PVE combat. when you have these points, you'll get opportunities to roll for more traits or improved traits on your weapons. If you modify your weapons this way, they will add strain, which is something that will make further changes cost more.
However, it may be worth it since you can create weapons with a number of unique traits and rarer compositions. Yet, because the modification cost will rise, it will make more sense to play around and create a variety of trait combinations. This, along with other changes coming, like Shapeshifter weapons, will open up a greater variety of choices on how to play.
As you change your weapons, and imbue them with more powerful traits, their legendary rating will go up. This also increases the chances of that weapon being lost or destroyed if you die. This process is intentionally difficult, but you can still
