Here's why the game takes up so much space.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III's campaign is now playable for people who preordered the military shooter, and anyone preloading the game might have discovered that the file size is pretty big at potentially 200GB or more depending on what you have installed already. It's bigger than last year, and that's for a variety of reasons, Activision said in a social media post.
The increased file size was «due to the increased amount of content» at launch, including map files for Warzone, as well as the Zombies mode, and the fact that a lot of content from Modern Warfare II carries over to Modern Warfare III.

Activision added that the final installation size should be smaller than the «combined previous Call of Duty experiences» thanks to Activision's «optimization efforts.»
Additionally, Activision reminded people that they can use the «manage files» tab within the Call of Duty HQ launcher menu to uninstall specific content. Activision said it will share more information in the coming days.
While Modern Warfare III's campaign is playable now in early access, the game does not officially launch until November 10. That's when the game is playable for everyone, regardless of preorder status, and that's also when multiplayer goes live with the the pre-season leading up to Season 1.
