NetherRealm Studios has revealed several big improvements that are being made to Mortal Kombat 1's Invasions mode, including finally removing super armour from most enemies.
It's fair to say that, despite praise going towards the gameplay, roster and story, Mortal Kombat 1 has had a pretty rough time of it since it launched, with fans expressing disappointment in a number of the game's modes and features. One of the modes that has received the most criticism is Invasions, the board-game style campaign that's somewhere between Towers of Time and the Krypt.
NetherRealm also just confirmed that season two of Invasions is going to be themed around Nitara, confirming earlier leaks and teases that it had shared.
Although Invasions mostly just has you walking around a map and fighting opponents, a lot of players have found that several of its unique gameplay elements drag the experience down, like every enemy having super armour, modifiers that make some matches nearly unplayable (looking at you smoke screen), and an overly slow pace.
NetherRealm has already made some steps towards improving Invasions mode, such as adding the ability to run through the map in the recent Halloween update, but it's looking to even further for season two. As revealed in the Omni-Man and Tremor Kombat Kast, there are several key changes coming to Invasions that address some of the biggest issues that fans have had with it.
