CHARTS: Modern Warfare 3 early access helps Call of Duty reach No.2 on Steam

Call of Duty charted at No.2 in the Steam Top Ten last week off the back of the launch of Modern Warfare 3.

The game isn't actually out yet, but those who pre-ordered the shooter were given early access to the title's single-player mode from Thursday, November 2nd. Activision might regret implementing this given that a lot of players had issues accessing the campaign ahead of release despite pre-purchasing Modern Warfare 3. That's on top of people who have had access to the single-player having very little good to say about the story mode. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is set to release on November 10th.

Counter-Strike 2 was once again the biggest seller on Steam, while Cyberpunk 2077 rose up 13 spots to reach No.3 week-on-week. CD Projekt's ambitious sci-fi RPG isn't the only title to shoot up the charts; in No.4 is military sim War Thunder, which shot up 20 places week-on-week thanks to a sale to celebrate the game's 11th anniversary.

Ark: Survival Ascended dropped from second to fifth week-on-week while in sixth and seventh places we have an EA double bill. No.6 goes to Apex Legends following the launch of the battle royale title's 19th season of content – and the first new character since May of this year – while seventh place goes to EA Sports FC 24, which dropped three places week-on-week.

Baldur's Gate 3 drops one place to No.8, ahead of new entry For the King 2 from Curve Digital. Rounding off the Top Ten is Cities: Skylines 2, which dropped seven places week-on-week.
