It’s cool that Modern Warfare Zombies currently has three Wonder Weapons to find and mow down zombies with, but it’s not cool that you can’t exfil with them. In typical Call of Duty fan fashion, we’re complaining about it.
Scinkx on Reddit was another victim of Wonder Weapons turning to ash when trying to exfil them. It turns out that if you find a Wonder Weapon in the Exclusion Zone, whether it’s the Ray Gun, Wunderwaffe DG-2, or Scorcher, it turns into 400 XP after successfully exfiling. That’s literally the equivalent of 20 zombie kills.
And it’s not just Wonder Weapons. There are a lot of items that don’t carry over run to run in MWZ. In my opinion, I think this is fair. Though I understand if you don’t care about what’s fair or balanced and only want what’s the most fun in a PvE extraction game like MWZ, Treyarch is trying to preserve the Wonder Weapon gameplay loop by making them disappear when exfiling.

There are two ways to keep Wonder Weapons in Modern Warfare Zombies. The first way is, if you found the Wonder Weapon in a Weapons Case, leave it in the Weapons Case and exfil with it. If you open the Weapons Case and take out and use the Wonder Weapon, then you can’t exfil with it. You can only preserve a Wonder Weapon run to run if it’s still in a Weapons Case.
The only other way to keep a Wonder Weapon is to unlock its Schematic. This only works with the Ray Gun and Wunderwaffe DG-2, but if you have the Schematic, you can craft the Wonder Weapon and use it for one run. Be warned: the Wonder Weapon Schematics have a 48-hour cooldown.
