's post-apocalyptic wasteland is home to many memorable locations, from the Vault-Tec vaults that double as twisted experiments to bustling settlements full of civilians, such as Diamond City. There are also more unique places players may only visit occasionally on their journey for the odd quest and ones that players will only find by going off the beaten path and venturing further away from any semblance of society, such as some of the more desolate locations out in the Glowing Sea.
Across players can find several shipwrecks too, with a notable one being the USS Constitution, which is situated atop a building near Bunker Hill, and another being just off the coast of Spectacle Island, an abandoned island once owned by an eccentric billionaire that can be transformed into a settlement. While both of these are interesting to explore — and the USS Constitution, in particular, has an amusing quest about trying to get the ship working again — there is one shipwreck that can be particularly harrowing.

The FMS Northern Star can be found in the Commonwealth along the shore opposite the aforementioned Spectacle Island, appearing below Warwick Homestead on the map, and it is certainly worth visiting for those who want to collect all of the bobbleheads in the game. The shipwreck can be boarded by climbing the metal crates inside the wreck and going toward the ship's stern, up a flight of stairs; then, when approaching the bow of the ship, players can use a lifeboat to lower themselves down into the ship's interior.
Aboard the ship is a wealth of good loot, including an Agility bobblehead, a mini-nuke, a consumable Stealth Boy that can render the player invisible for 30 seconds, a fusion core, and more.
