While the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3 continue performing well for Capcom, its mainline titles are no slouch. Following updates to its Platinum Titles list, it revealed that Resident Evil Village has sold 10.1 million copies worldwide as of June 30th, 2024. It crossed 10 million sales on June 11th and became the fastest title in the series to achieve the milestone.
However, Resident Evil 7: biohazard is equally impressive, reaching 13.7 million units sold. That’s 400,000 additional units sold since the last quarter. Though it first launched in January 2017, it’s currently the franchise’s second best-selling title behind Resident Evil 2 remake and Capcom’s fourth best-selling in history.
While there have been rumors of Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil – Code: Veronica, Capcom has only confirmed the ninth mainline title. Directed by Koshi Nakanishi, details like a release date and platforms aren’t available, but he feels it will be “substantial.” Stay tuned for more updates in the meantime.
