The critically acclaimed VR game C-Smash VRS is getting a non-VR release on PlayStation 5.
C-Smash VRS was released for PlayStation VR2 on June 23, and is released today on Meta Quest 2, 3 and Pro.
To celebrate the launch of the game on the Quest, publisher RapidEyeMovers has announced that a non-VR version will be coming to the PS5 in late summer 2024.
The PS5 version will be called C-Smash VRS: New Dimension, and is available for pre-order on the PlayStation Store starting today.
Players who already own the PlayStation VR2 version of C-Smash VRS will get New Dimension as a free update when it’s released.
A reimagining of Sega‘s arcade and Dreamcast classic Cosmic Smash, C-Smash VRS is a futuristic sports game which combines squash with block-breaking games like Breakout.
The game features original music tracks by Japanese DJ Ken Ishii (Rez Infinite) and synthesiser player and record producer Danalogue (front man of The Comet is Coming and Soccer 96).
VGC’s review of the PlayStation VR2 version of C-Smash VR said the game is “a must-buy for PSVR2 owners”.
“Massively stylish and utterly engrossing, we found ourselves taken by the game’s simple, yet refined mechanics,” we wrote. “Sure, you need plenty of space, but that’s the case for a number of true VR greats, among which C-Smash VR numbers.
“C-Smash VR is engaging, exhausting and exhilarating. A VR staple that we’ll be showing friends for years, it nails the aesthetics, gameplay, and most importantly, the vibe of everything that’s great about VR.”
