Nintendo is set to release an all-red version of the Switch OLED, according to a reliable leaker.
Dealabs userbillbil-kun, who has now been consistently revealing unannounced product for years, says the product will be called ‘Nintendo Switch – OLED Model – Mario Red Edition’.
According to their report, the console will have two red Joy-Cons and a red dock, but won’t feature any other Mario branding.
The two main models of the Switch OLED are a version with two white Joy-Cons and a white dock, and a version with a Neon Blue Joy-Con, a Neon Red Joy-Con and a black dock.
Billbil-kun’s report claims the Joy-Cons and the dock for the new Mario Red edition will be the same shade as the standard Neon Red Joy-Con.
Although the release date has not been confirmed, billbil-kun says “it is certain that it will be released before October”.
Nintendo will be streaming a special Nintendo Direct focused entirely on Super Mario Bros Wonder this week. Assuming the console is legit, it may be announced during this presentation.
Taking place on August 31 at 7am PT / 10am ET / 3pm BST / 4pm CEST, the 15-minute presentation will provide an in-depth look at the upcoming Switch exclusive ahead of its release on October 20.
Announced in June, Super Mario Bros Wonder is the first original 2D Mario side-scrolling game in over a decade. Its new gimmick is the Wonder Flower, which transforms each stage in a different way.
