Warner Bros. Games and DC today revealed the first gameplay of Nightwing and Red Hood in Gotham Knights, the upcoming open-world, third-person action RPG in development by Warner Bros. Games Montréal.
A 14-minute video narrated by Game Director Geoff Ellenor, shows off how each of the characters differs and gives some insight into the game’s narrative, which takes place following the death of Batman.
Highlighting mobility in the open-world Gotham, the video shows off Nightwing’s glider, the flying trapeze and Red Hood’s ability, mystical leap, to traverse the city. All characters will also be able to use the Batcycle.
The video also shows off the Belfry, which will serve as the home base for players. From here, each character can select missions from the Batcomputer. This is how players will advance the story.
Gotham Knights can be played in co-op, and despite an update to the PSN page for the game, it appears to be only two players for now. Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl and Red Hood can all be selected, however, it’s unclear if certain missions require certain characters.
As well as the gameplay demo, the developers also showed off new screenshots from the game (see below).
A Deluxe Edition and Collector’s Edition version of the game has been announced.
The Deluxe Edition includes ” exclusive gear, cosmetics, Beyond Suitstyle character skins inspired by the Batman Beyond animated series and more”. The Collector’s Edition will include the Deluxe Edition as well as an “augmented reality collectable pin,16-page media book, exclusive Gotham City map, four-characters statue diorama and more. ”
Gotham Knights will release on October 25, 2022, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
