There's a secret The Big Bang Theory Easter egg in the Young Sheldon season 5 finale and it isn't Sheldon's Flash shirt. CBS' premier comedy ended the year in a rather tame way compared to its predecessors. But fans of The Big Bang Theory were treated to not just one fun reference to The Big Bang Theory, as the Young Sheldon season 5 finale also features a secret Easter egg about Sheldon's future.
Things have been hectic for the Coopers in the last several weeks due to Georgie's news. George and Mary's eldest child accidentally got his girlfriend pregnant, resulting in a slew of problems for the family. After a series of mishaps that includes both Cooper parents losing their jobs, things start to settle down, somehow. In Young Sheldon's season 5 finale, Sheldon and his family start to get acclimated to the idea that Georgie will inevitably be a dad. But most importantly, the outing finally shifts the comedy's focus back on Sheldon after sidelining him for a while.

In the episode titled «A Clogged Pore, a Little Spanish and the Future,» Sheldon starts fearing the future, but after a sweet pep talk from Missy, he settles down. His newfound optimism is reflected through his sartorial choices as he debuts his new look, wearing his first Flash shirt, which is styled the same way he usually wore them inThe Big Bang Theory. According to executive producer Steven Molaro in an interview with TV Insider, this isn't the only reference to the other sitcom.
