Long-time Dancing With The Stars professional dancer turned judge, Derek Hough recently proposed to his fiancé, Hayley Erbert, on Thursday, June 2nd. The dancers kept their relationship private since 2015 before deciding to go public with the news in the last couple of years. Now, after being together for seven years, the couple is planning a wedding, which the fans have been waiting for a long time.
When fans first met Derek, he was introduced as a guest instructor during DWTS season 4 to help his sister, Julianne Hough, and her celebrity partner, Apolo Anton Ohno, with their routine for week 6. He was then bumped up to a professional dancer for the next season and remained a pro dancer on the series up until season 23, winning the mirrorball trophy six times throughout his run. When viewers first met Hayley, she was a contestant on So You Think You Can Dance season 10, where she finished in the top six of the competition.

According to People, Derek and Hayley met in 2014 when Hayley was hired by The Hough Siblings to go on tour. Fater she began dancing for the Houghs, Hayley was hired for DWTS season 21, which is reportedly where Derek and Haley began their budding romance. Despite being in a relationship, they decided to keep their romance private. It wasn't until 2017 that Derek and Haley went public, posting the news on their respective Instagram accounts. Derek also mentioned that quarantining with Hayley made the couple grow stronger, revealing, "We came together [...]We grew as a couple tremendously. We even started a YouTube channel together," he said.
