Executive producer Steven Molaro explains how Brenda and Mary working together impacts George in Young Sheldon season 6. The Big Bang Theory spin-off ended its most recent season with a tamer finale. Instead of concluding any of the plotlines it had been tackling all year, the Young Sheldon season 5 finale mostly focused on Sheldon and his fear of the future.
Instead of delivering on any much-awaited payoff, CBS mainly used the Young Sheldon season 5 finale as a launching pad for what's going to happen next for the Coopers. For George and Mary's troubled marriage, that means more problems moving forward. After getting fired from their respective jobs, Mary was forced to go around town desperately looking for a new job. Ultimately, she ends up at the town bowling alley and essentially begs Brenda to hire her. Despite her initial skepticism given her and George's relationship, Brenda relents, which means that inYoung Sheldon season 6, George's wife and his potential mistress will be working side-by-side together.

During an interview with TV Insider, Molaro is asked what fans can expect from this active narrative in Young Sheldon season 6. While he claims that he still isn't fully sure where this plot is going, he shares that the creative team is well aware of how this could further complicate things for Mary and George.
