While it may have debuted to mixed reviews, certainly found its audience as the visceral combat and progression hooked those who've been longing to return to the franchise since the original game. Fortunately for those fans who enjoy crushing undead skulls, they'll soon be able to do it all again with some extra perks.
Posting to the official blog, Dambusters confirmed that the forthcoming update in October will add the much-demanded New Game Plus mode. As can be expected from such a feature, players who dive into New Game Plus can play through the campaign again with all their already unlocked abilities and weapons but there's more to it than that. The developer elaborated that the mode will grant players a higher level cap, and an extra skill slot while also adding new skins, weapons, and foes alongside a major difficulty increase.
The sprawling chaos of Hell-A can still be explored after beating Dead Island 2, with plenty of tasks to do and quests to complete once the game ends.
If an extensive New Game Plus mode isn't enough to bring players back to then Neighborhood Watch might do the trick. In a dynamic horde-style mode that puts players in the shoes of the Bobcats, survivors will need to work together to kill zombies, set traps, and survive for five in-game days before repelling the undead's last massive wave. Dambusters promises some major replayability, explaining that players can unlock new abilities to keep every run unique while also earning exclusive skins and weapons for successfully pushing back the horde.
