Xbox Games Showcase & Starfield Direct date and time confirmed for 11th June

Microsoft and Bethesda have confirmed the date and time of the ‘not E3’ Xbox Games Showcase and Starfield Direct double bill, with both taking place during the “E3 but not E3” window on 11th June 2023.

The streams will kick off at the following times around the world:

The Xbox games Showcase will get things started with a look at games from across the Xbox Game Studios, and we’ll expect and hope to see more on Forza Motorsport, Hellblade 2, and maybe the next Gears game, while also hoping for more solid gameplay reveals from the many other game studios and previously announced games that are being put together.

There will also be featured spots for third parties, with Microsoft sure to put the spotlight on games that are coming to Xbox Game Pass.

Following the Xbox Games Showcase, all eyes will turn to the Starfield Direct, with Bethesda Game Studios giving a lengthy in-depth look at the game with new gameplay, interviews and behind-the-scenes content. Expect this to be somewhat similar to how Bethesda revealed Fallout 4 back in the day.

Two days later on 13th June, the Xbox Games Showcase Extended will take a lot of the same games and announcements and flesh things out with developer interviews and more.

In an ideal world, all of this would be a celebration of Xbox and video games in general, but this showcase really feels like crunch time for the current iteration of Xbox as a brand and a business for Microsoft. The simple fact of the matter is that, despite lots of ambition and investment – well, attempted investment – Xbox has struggled through the first few years of this generation. As a console platform it still lags behind arch rival PlayStation, and a big part of that is because of a lack of major exclusive games.
