Xbox Game Studios and Kojima Productions officially confirmed their partnership on a new game at last year’s Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase. While concrete details have yet to be revealed, the former’s Publishing team recently visited the latter. Aaron Greenberg, VP of Xbox Games Marketing at Microsoft, said this was “Bringing engineering, cloud, marketing, and production teams together to kick-off an exciting journey ahead.”
The word “kick-off” could imply many things. It could indicate that development is still in the early stages, which makes sense since Koijma Productions is also working on Death Stranding 2, and the rumored (and leaked) Overdose. Time will ultimately tell, so stay tuned.
All that’s known about the untitled project is that it’s a cloud-native experience utilizing Microsoft’s tech and that it’s a game which Hideo Kojima has wanted to make for a long time. Rumors indicate that it’s based on an existing IP and that Kim Swift of Portal and Left4Dead, hired as a senior director on the Xbox Cloud Gaming team, is involved.
