A fan-made DC movie poster casts The Witcher's Anya Chalotra as Zatanna. A magic-user as renowned as John Constantine, Zatanna is one of the most intriguing and beloved characters to emerge from DC Comics. She's been a member of both the Justice League and Justice League Dark, and while she's made several animated appearances, Zatanna has only been depicted in live-action form once. Serinda Swan played her on the WB series Smallville. Beyond that, there have been rumblings of Zatanna appearing in a live-action film for years, with Guillermo del Toro even coming close to putting her in a Justice League Dark movie.
As of yet, though, a live-action appearance for her hasn't come to fruition, but things are getting closer than ever. Following news that JJ Abrams is working on a Justice League Darkuniverse for Warner Bros., a new Zatanna movie has been put into development. Promising Young Woman director Emerald Fennell signed on to write the script in March 2021 and commented on it as recently as June, when Fennell described Zatanna as "quite dark" and "so massive." However, it remains to be seen if Fennell will also direct; there haven't been many updates since her hiring.

In a poster shared by Lazy-Mastermind online, Chalotra becomes the star of Zatanna's stage show. Though she's missing a top hat, her outfit closely resembles Zatanna's look from the comics.
