In a piece of fan art, the potential of Storm’s new punk costume is revealed. Based on artist Russell Dauterman’s Storm redesign, the X-Men member has never looked better.
Storm has endured many redesigns which have emphasized various aspects of her character. However, when Dauterman redesigned her for X-Men, she took on a drastically new look that stood out from previous iterations. Wearing a black leather jacket with spikes on the shoulders, a gold chain, and a knife holster on her leg, the simple and bold suit quickly became a fan favorite.

In a tweet by BeatBoxingBode, the punk costume-wearing Storm embraces her fresh appearance as she holds electricity in her hands. Instead of revealing the X-Men “X” symbol on her shoulder, she maintains her jacket and draws focus to the lightning bolt emblem on her chest. With exaggerated hair, she resembles Starfire and looks especially powerful, almost as if she’s from another world. This is in stark contrast to her fellow X-Men members who largely match one another. However, BeatBoxingBode proves that Storm can pull off both identities, as a member of the mutant team and as her own hero.

The punk look shows a side of Storm that has sometimes been overlooked, as she tends to have more power than readers realize. Although Jean Grey is frequently considered to be one of the strongest X-Men, Storm has the capacity to unleash at any moment.
