Star Wars fan art has reimagined a scene of The Mandalorian's Din Djarin being recruited to pilot by Poe Dameron. Din and Poe have yet to cross over into each other's stories on-screen, as The Mandalorian takes place 5 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI — Return of the Jedi, making Poe just seven years old during its events. By the time Poe's story takes place over 20 years later, Din would be much older, but presumably still somewhere in the galaxy. The connection between Din and Poe, however, goes beyond the screen — and even the Star Wars universe itself.
Pedro Pascal and Oscar Isaac, who play Din and Poe respectively, are real-life best friends. Isaac was the first of the two to appear in the Star Wars universe with his debut in 2015's Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens, while Pascal stepped into the universe alongside the launch of Disney+ with The Mandalorian series in 2019. Artists have often brought Din and Poe together in light of the actors' friendship, despite their timeline differences. While Pascal and Isaac's Star Wars characters haven't had the chance to team up just yet, the actors were able to work together on Netflix's action heist Triple Frontier in 2019, just a few months before The Mandalorian season 1. It features Isaac as Santiago «Pope» Garcia and Pascal as Francisco «Catfish» Morales, who were just as close on screen as the actors are in real life.
