The pet brand, Pawp, has announced that they will be donating $10,000 to pet rescues every time Power of the Dog is said during the 2022 Oscars. Power of the Dog is the frontrunner in this years Academy Awards. The film is directed by Jane Campion and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons, and Kodi Smit-McPhee. The Western drama follows hardened, domineering rancher, Phil Burbank (Cumberbatch), who takes to routinely psychologically tormenting his brother's new wife, Rose (Dunst), and her son Peter (Smit-McPhee). However, much to Rose's chagrin, Burbank strikes up a complicated bond with Peter when the possibility of love arises.
Power of the Dog received the most Oscar nominations this year, with twelve nominations in total. The four lead stars nabbed an Oscar nomination each for their acting, while Campion was nominated for Best Director. The film was also nominated for Best Picture, along with a slew of other nominations for editing, screenplay, sound, music, and cinematography. Power of the Dog has already won big at such awards as the BAFTAs and is expected to follow suit at the Oscars. Now, a pet rescue is taking Power of the Dog's prestige and turning it into a charity event.
