Motion Twin’s Windblown is currently available for PC via Steam Early Access and is off to a decent start, with 89 percent of its 3,221 (and counting) user reviews positive. However, there are still areas to improve on, including Sudden Death. Available in co-op, the mechanic tasks living players with slaying ten enemies to revive their slain teammates, which is a problem during boss fights.
The developer understands it’s a “major point of conversation for our Community” and it’s “paying close attention to as we look at ways to iterate and improve upon the feature.” It also discussed its intentions for the feature, from ally deaths having significant consequences to co-op feeling more strategic and opting for team survival over simply stacking DPS.
While it’s not going to scrap the current version of Sudden Death, Motion Twin agrees that it’s “harsh and maybe even unfair for some of you.” As such, it wants to make it into “an epic moment where reviving your teammates feels like a true high point.” How this will work remains to be seen, so stay tuned for further details in the coming weeks.
Windblown offers five biomes and 12 weapons in early access. There are plans to add more, but the development team is also focused on additional Trinkets, skins, enemy types, Magifishes, quality-of-life features, and Vortex lore.
