Obi-Wan Kenobi has featured multiple reunions between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi in which, curiously enough, the Sith Lord has seemingly wanted to keep his former master alive. The entire series has been centered around the relationship between Kenobi and Vader, formerly Anakin Skywalker. Naturally then, the two were almost guaranteed to come across each other at multiple points throughout the Disney+ limited series.
When the Obi-Wan Kenobi series was announced, it was confirmed that Hayden Christensen would return as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy dubbing their reunion the rematch of the century. With the Obi-Wan Kenobi finale surely set to include this full-fledged rematch, the first meeting point between the two came in Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 3, in which Vader completely outclassed and outright terrified the retired Jedi Master. Between the climax of episode 3, and the close-call between the two in episode 5, the show has established that Darth Vader seemingly wants to keep Kenobi alive.

While there could be several reasons for this, the main one is set up in Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 3. At the end of that specific episode, Vader easily defeats an unbalanced Kenobi in a duel. Upon beating him, Vader sets the ground alight and tortures Kenobi, giving his former master a sense of Vader's pain he experienced on Mustafar.
