Warning: The following contains SPOILERS for Superman and Lois season 2, episode 3, «The Thing in the Mines.»
The specialized weaponry of Steel proved less than helpful when doomsday came to Smallville in Superman and Lois, and a highly anticipated villain was unveiled as the Bizarro Superman. This oddity may offer some insight into the nature of this new menace, which is currently believed to be a twisted doppelganger of Superman from another universe. However, there is a possibility that he is a corrupted clone, like the Bizarro Supergirl that appeared in Supergirl season 1.
The first episodes of Superman and Lois season 2 foreshadowed the arrival of some sort of monstrous being that was digging its way out of the Shuster Mines in Smallville, Kansas. Superman began having visions of destruction and panic attacks which coincided with the powerful seismic events caused by the creature's struggles. These signs teased the introduction of the Arrowverse version of Doomsday, who emerged in a similar manner in his first comic book appearance, digging his way out of the earth while clad in some kind of containment suit. However, when Superman finally confronted the threat in Superman and Lois season 2, episode 3, «The Thing in the Mines,» and cracked open the creature's helmet, he was stunned to see his own face, craggy and twisted, with glowing blue eyes. Later described by Ret. General Sam Lane as "a bizarre version of Superman," the confused creature traveled to the Fortress of Solitude in the episode's final scenes.
