Garena Free Fire gets banned in India as part of a recent 54-apps ban by the Government of India. As a result, the Free Fire – Illuminate game was removed from the Google Play store and Apple App Store. While Garena is still working on a solution, the Free Fire Max title continues to be available on Google Play, although Apple has removed it from its stores. Several players who already have the game installed, have reported server connection issues on their side.
While the game is supposed to be deleted from all the app stores operating in India, there is one that is still hosting Free Fire – Illuminate on its platform. Hence, we take a look at all the app stores in India that have removed it and ones that’s till have it online.
Before the ban was declared officially, Garena Free Fire was missing from the Play Store since February 13. However, the Free Fire Max title continues to be available on the Play Store. Note that the list of banned apps from the MeitY does not include Free Fire Max formally.
The Apple App Store also complies with the ban order and has removed Free Fire from its listing. However, Apple has also removed Free Fire Max from the App Store. Hence, gamers on iPhone and iPads won’t be able to play any version of Free Fire on their devices.
Surprisingly, the Samsung Galaxy Store continues to host the Garena Free Fire Max – Illuminate app on its store hours after the ban was issued. Hence, gamers using Samsung devices will still be able to download the Free Fire from the Galaxy Store. Note that the store does not host the Free Fire Max title. The Galaxy Store on Samsung devices is powered by the Indus App Bazaar, says Samsung.
