The cast of The Real Dirty Dancing is letting fans know what filming the show meant to them. The four-episode FOX series was a tribute to the original 1987 film, Dirty Dancing, which starred Patrick Swayze as Johnny Castle and Jennifer Grey as Frances «Baby» Houseman. In the summer of 1963, Baby travels with her parents and her sister Lisa to Kellerman's Lodge, a resort in the Catskills, and dreads a boring and uneventful vacation. However, she soon becomes the dance partner of the passionate and sexy Johnny, who is the resort's dance instructor, and they fall in love. In The Real Dirty Dancing, eight celebrity dancers recreate classic scenes and dances from the movie while capturing its magic and honoring its memory.
Hosted by dancer and choreographer, Stephen «tWitch» Boss, the show starred professional wrestler and Total Bellas star Brie Bella, Iron Chef Cat Cora, comedian Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, and comedian and The Real co-host Loni Love as the prospective «Babys.» Actor and singer Corbin Bleu, The Bachelorette star and model Tyler Cameron, Backstreet Boys singer Howie Dorough, and retired professional football player Antonio Gates competed as the potential Johnnys. Set at Virginia's Mountain Lake Lodge, which was the location of the fictional Kellerman's resort in the movie, the show's producers partnered the celebrities for the competition. The remaining two couples would perform the iconic lift from the end of the film and this was a source of much anticipation and excitement throughout the season.
