A Plague Tale is the latest video game franchise set to receive a live-action TV show. Via Eurogamer, the announcement comes from the French outlet, Allocine, and reveals some important details regarding the goals of the project.
French director Mathieu Turi confirmed his involvement with the TV show via Twitter, stating that he “can’t wait to bring Amicia and Hugo’s journey to the screen!” Turi is famous for directing Hostile, as well asbeing an assistant director on Inglourious Basterds.
Creating the show in France appears to be an important goal for the team. Fabrice Renault, head of Merlin Productions which will produce the series, goes on to say that it is fundamental that “productions reflect French talents and know-how.” There is no information about the casting, or when we can expect the show to release just yet. Focus Entertainment, the publisher of the game, will serve as the co-producer.
A Plague Tale: Innocence is a horror/adventure game created by French developer Asobo Studio, and it was originally released in 2019. The game is set in 14th Century France, and stars the siblings Amicia and Hugo de Rune as they journey to escape conflict and rat-infested disease in Aquitaine. We gave it a 7 in our review. The direct sequel, A Plague Tale: Requiem, is due to be released later this year.
