The first live eviction of Big Brother 24 has yet again been postponed. Typically the first eviction of the summer takes place within the first week of the players moving into the Big Brother house. On a rare occasion, usually when a twist is involved, the first eviction will be on premiere night. Neither of these situations has taken place this season.
Not long before what should have been the first live eviction of the summer, the houseguests learned the news of Paloma Augliar’s sudden departure from the show. Production claimed it was due to a personal matter; however, many houseguests believe her mental health had been suffering. In the days leading up to her sudden self-eviction, Paloma revealed to some of her fellow houseguests that she had barely been sleeping since moving into the house less than a week prior. Since it is a tough game both mentally and physically, this was not a first for Big Brother. There have been quite a few past players to self-evict as well for a series of reasons.

While it may not be a first for the show, a self-eviction always changes how the remainder of the game will play out. As a result of Paloma’s self-eviction from the Big Brother game, the first eviction, as well as the Backstage Pass twist, were both canceled. Due to this, the first live eviction was set to take place during week two of the game; however, this too has changed. According to Parade, this week's live eviction was postponed due to CBS’ airing of The Special Report covering the January 6th Capitol riots. The network had reserved the prime time slot that Big Brother usually airs during for this special showing.
