Warning: Spoilers for Obi-Wan Kenobi episodes 1 & 2
Despite his connection to the Jedi Temple incident, Grogu was missing from Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Order 66 flashbacks. The scene depicted in the Disney+ series provided an additional perspective on the mass killings that took place when Palpatine gave the infamous Order 66 command. In the show’s first episode, a number of Jedi Younglings were seen trying to escape from the Jedi Temple.
What Obi-Wan experienced on that fateful day was already covered in Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith, but given how his situation is defined by Order 66, it’s not surprising that the series is taking an opportunity to revisit it. The Empire’s decision to wipe out the Jedi radically changed the galaxy and rid it of its greatest defenders. And though Obi-Wan Kenobi takes place a few years after the initial command was executed, its impact hasn’t waned. With the series apparently revolving around Obi-Wan’s conflict with a bloodthirsty Inquisitor intent on hunting him, it’s sure to continue casting a shadow over the series, just as it has with other Star Wars projects, like The Mandalorian. Order 66 is integral to its story as well, as Grogu a.k.a. Baby Yoda is a confirmed survivor of the Jedi Temple massacre.

Grogu’s history has raised questions about his whereabouts during Obi-Wan Kenobi’s flashback. Based on what’s known about the character’s past, it’s likely that even though he wasn’t shown, he was in the vicinity when the Younglings were fleeing from the temple.
