That is one of the reasons why the app lags behind some of the competition, but it still does not matter because it remains as one of the most popular messaging apps on the market. Today, we have some news about the feature that the platform is currently working on, and this is an interesting one.
WhatsApp introduced self-destructing or disappearing messages some time ago and while the feature is being used by many even today, the new feature that the platform is working on will allow you to create self-destructing group chats. The idea does sound like a strange one but I can imagine a lot of scenarios for this group chat.
The change was spotted by none other than WaBetaInfo and is currently being tested on WhatsApp for iOS. As the name suggests, users can create a group chat that will delete itself after the set period is over. This is great for people who want to ensure that they don't have to manually leave the group, and save space from all the media being shared in the group.
At the moment, WhatsApp lets you set an expiration date that ranges from a day, a week, and of course, a custom date. You can even go ahead and remove the expiration date if you feel that the group needs to stay active for a bit longer.
Currently, we cannot say just how this new feature is going to work. However, one can think of several scenarios where self-destructing WhatsApp group chats can make sense. This can be an excellent feature for people who have to create groups for a weekend get-together, a party, a short trip out of town, organizing events, and more.
