A new Steam Deck OS stable update has gone live today, introducing new features, improvements, and fixes to all users.
The 3.4.6 update brings the same changes and improvements featured in the beta update, which went live earlier this month, such as a fix for a focus issue with Forza Horizon 5, an update to the graphics driver which added performance improvements and graphical corruption issues for a variety of titles including the recently released Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and the soon to be released Resident Evil 4 remake.
The biggest addition of the latest Steam Deck OS stable update, and the most impressive, is the introduction of ray tracing support for DOOM Eternal. While this was made possible by the Vulkan API, which is supported by the id Software's game, ray tracing support for DXR is also in the pipe. When it does get implemented, it will be very interesting to see how most titles will perform on the system with ray tracing on. Regardless of performance, getting the first handheld gaming system capable of supporting ray tracing in a variety of titles in some capacity will still be impressive.
