@Voltan @Th3solution Thanks for confirming, folks. I believe yes, dismemberment is on by default.
It only pertains to human enemy types (so Stormtroopers, the Bedlam Raiders, etc.) whilst droids and all animals, even those that're humanoid in shape, still get sliced and diced regardless (it's the only way to escape one of the space gorilla's grab attacks). It was the same in Fallen Order and generated a minor debate about why Cal couldn't lop a Stormtrooper's arm off if he'd just bisected a space goat.
But yeah, if they were worried about preserving that T for Teen rating, they couldn't have pushed for anything too gratuitous. I'll definitely be disabling the arachnophobia mode for my NG+ run, so I might also re-enable dismemberment and see for myself. Cheers!
And yes, that particular rancor animation is very deliberately framed; I noticed that, too!
