This article contains spoilers for Ms. Marvel episode 1.
Ms. Marvel episode 1 serves as an origin story for the MCU's latest teen superhero when she puts on mysterious bracelets that are likely alien in nature. In the comics, Kamala Khan is a teenager with an Inhuman gene, which granted her powers when she was exposed to the Terrigen Mists. It's currently unclear whether the Inhumans exist in the main MCU timeline, and Marvel Studios has switched up her origin and even her powerset.
Ms. Marvel's MCU powers appear to originate from a bracelet she has inherited from her grandmother. When Kamala puts the bracelet on in Ms. Marvel episode 1, she has what can only be considered a mystical experience and gains the ability to create energy constructs. These seem to be roughly analogous to the force-fields projected by the Fantastic Four's Invisible Woman, an ironic twist given many believed Marvel had redesigned her powerset because they didn't want stretching abilities comparable to Mr. Fantastic. Kamala herself clearly has no idea where these powers come from, but she's thrilled, even if their first use did cause chaos at AvengerCon.
