Stan Edgar has been handed his marching orders by Homelander — what next for Giancarlo Esposito's villain? Throughout The Boys seasons 1 & 2, supes and non-supes alike have lived in fear of the mighty Homelander. Only one man consistently put the Seven's diabolical leader in his place — Vought CEO, Stan Edgar. Never once showing fear of Homelander's awesome powers, Edgar reliably treated his most prized asset like a naughty child requiring discipline after stepping out of line.
Their dynamic finally flips in The Boys season 3, episode 4 («Glorious Five Year Plan»). Buoyed by embracing his godlike superiority on live TV and receiving a groundswell of public support in response, Homelander hears about an upcoming press conference where Victoria Neuman will chastise his swear-y birthday celebration speech. Instead, Homelander cuts a deal with the congresswoman — a vial of Compound-V in exchange for her publicly accusing Stan Edgar of corruption.

The ploy works, and a shell-shocked Edgar is placed on a temporary leave of absence that Homelander gleefully speculates will become permanent soon enough. After a tense final conversation, Vought's CEO takes his leave. Does this mean Giancarlo Esposito has departed The Boys? And how could he potentially return before The Boys season 3 ends?
Largely thanks to Giancarlo Esposito's imposing presence, it's easy to forget how seldom Stan Edgar actually features in The Boys, making sporadic appearances in only 5 episodes throughout seasons 1 & 2.
