Whether they are in need of regular Smithing Stones or Somber Smithing Stones, most Elden Ring players will go out of their way to search for these upgrade materials at some point in the game. For one Elden Ring fan, though, they managed to stumble upon a Smithing Stone in real life.
This is hardly the first time that Redditors have found items from the Lands Between in the real world. For example, one Reddit user encountered a huge pot resembling Iron Fist Alexander, while another stumbled upon an area that looked like one of the game’s Evergaols. Another gamer found a statue resembling one of Elden Ring’s creepy giant hands, while yet another spotted a sculpture that was reminiscent of Teardrop Scarabs. No matter where players look, it seems like they are reminded of FromSoftware’s latest game.

With this in mind, it is hardly a surprise that Reddit user DernonOD was able to connect a real life item to the game. The item in question is a large rock, with said rock bearing a striking similarity to one of the game’s Smithing Stones. While it is far larger than the Stones found when searching through Elden Ring’s mines, it looks exactly like the upgrade material due to its pointed end. However, this was not the only similarity to the game’s Smithing Stones.
Alongside a matching shape with a chipped end, the reddish color is a perfect match for the normal Smithing Stone. Finding a grey Somber Smithing Stone when out in the real world likely would have been an easier task, as players see grey rocks all the time.
