Dragon Ballis a cultural phenomenon that's generated its fair share of "What If...?" scenarios from its fanbase, including some that go all the way back to the early days — such as what if the Saiyans had attacked right away. Several YouTube channels dedicate a large amount of their content to these hypotheticals, changing things like the circumstances of Goku's arrival to Earth and the result of his battle against Jackie Chun. Many of these hypotheticals have extremely far-reaching consequences for the overall Dragon Ball story — changing the events of famous Dragon Ballstorylines and the timing of key in-universe events.
While there's been no shortage of criticism revolving around Dragon Ball and its run in recent years, many of the series' earlier stories are regarded as classics. However, while storylines such as the Red Ribbon Army Saga and the King Piccolo Saga live rent-free in the minds of many, it was the Saiyan Saga that changed everything, finally explaining Goku's origins, creating much deeper lore for the series, and pivoting to a whole new genre, all in one stroke of Akira Toriyama's pen.

However, if the attack of the Saiyans had occurred much earlier in Dragon Ball things may have gone very differently. In the established story, the Saiyan Saga takes place five years after the Piccolo Jr. Saga. However, if the attack of the Saiyans had instead taken place immediately after the King Piccolo Saga, a number of dominos would absolutely have fallen differently.
