Hollywood heartthrob has finally come out to share an exciting update regarding the series, much to the delight of the miniature game’s fandom. Despite Amazon MGM Studios securing the rights from Games Workshop to produce content around the property in December 2022, there has been little to no news on the topic since — until now. In a recent update, Cavill has revealed that Prime Video has officially started development on the Warhammer 40,000 series.
In his latest Instagram post, Henry Cavill stated that the Warhammer 40K series, which is the first entry in a potential franchise, has begun production at Prime Video. Cavill then detailed the intricate creative process that took place in order to make the show a reality.
The Man of Steel star highlighted the behind-the-scenes approach for the show, stating, “My incredible team and I, alongside the brilliant minds at Games Workshop, have been working away in concept rooms, breaking down approaches to the enormity and magnificence of the Warhammer world.” He further noted, “Together, we’ve been sifting through the plethora of incredible characters and poring over old tomes and texts.”
The announcement from Henry Cavill regarding the series comes just in time before the expiry of the deal between Games Workshop and Amazon. As reported, the deadline for Amazon to decide upon the “creative guidelines for the films and television series” around Warhammer 40K was December 2024 if they wished to hold on to the intellectual property rights.
Warhammer 40,000 takes place in the distant future, where humanity faces threats from a plethora of sources, ranging from scheming alien empires to conniving gods. While the project, led by Henry Cavill, is confirmed to be a TV series, it has yet to receive a release date window from its creators.
