The appointed time is almost upon us, with the infernal launch of Diablo 4 mere days away (less for those that purchased the Ultimate Edition of the game). To tempt its adherents still further into selling their souls, Blizzard has announced the ultimate reward for the most devoted of players: The names of the first 1000 players to reach level 100 on Hardcore Mode will be immortalized forever on a real statue of in-game antagonist Lillith.
If you didn't know, Hardcore Mode in Diablo 4 is an additional difficulty modifier that must be selected on character creation. Outside of which World Tier (essentially difficulty setting) you're playing on, it makes things infinitely tougher by instantly deleting the character once they die. That would make getting to level 10 tough, but 100? That's multiple playthroughs on increasingly difficult World Tiers (featuring new enemies in new configurations) and roughly 150 hours of gameplay, as fast as possible, flawlessly.
To those who are about to die, we salute you.
To be amongst that hallowed company, to have your name included alongside those brave souls, would be just about the ultimate gamer brag. Are you up to the challenge? Declare your intentions immediately in the comments section below.
