Warning: The following contains SPOILERS for Thor: Love and Thunder.
In Thor: Love and Thunder, Thor Odinson makes quick work of Zeus by angrily throwing Thunderbolt through the Greek god's heart — but how did Zeus survive this? Zeus even takes a huge fall after getting sidelined by his own weapon. Yet, somehow, Zeus not only reappears to complain about humans and superheroes, but Russel Crowe's Zeus also seems mostly unharmed in the Thor: Love and Thunder after credits scene. The answer to how Zeus survived in Thor: Love and Thunder lies in how the original Marvel Comics source material portrays Zeus.
Much like in real Greek mythology, Marvel Comics' Zeus is the sixth son of the titan Cronus. Though Marvel's Cronus only banishes and doesn't eat his children, Cronus' wife Rhea also hides that she's pregnant with Zeus, who eventually overthrows Cronus to rule over the Olympians. As Skyfather of the Olympian Gods, Zeus possesses vastly superior versions of the superhuman attributes that come with having the physiology of an Olympian deity. This not only includes invulnerability but also the ability to regenerate missing limbs or even organs faster than any other Olympian.
