Paradox Interactive has shared an update on Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2.
In a brief blog post on their website, Paradox has confirmed that they will finally be revealing Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 this September. This may mean the game itself will be releasing in the same time as well. However, that reveal may also be timed because the company has gotten that far into development that they can show it, not necessarily release it.
Paradox also seems to have been quite concerned that they were not able to communicate on the game more frequently, and particularly, that fans had been waiting so long. With that in mind, they are offering refunds for those players who do want to avail of it.
For what it’s worth, Paradox announced the game all the way back in 2019. While four years is a normal period of time to produce a AAA game (might even be too short nowadays), Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 also faced numerous challenges in its development.
If you don’t quite remember, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2came close to being cancelled, and at one point lost its entire development studio.
In particular, the firing of two creative leads, Ka’ai Cluney and Brian Mitsoda, seems to have done real damage to the production. It got so bad that senior narrative designer Cara Ellison also bolted the project soon thereafter.
All of these issues playing out through the years definitely meant that Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has gone through plenty of changes, so much so that the earliest screenshots Paradox shared may no longer accurately represent the final product.
