Developer Poncle has released the latest free update to its hit bullet hell game just in time for the holidays, though it may not be for the holiday that players expect. The Whiteout patch for Vampire Survivors gives gamers on Steam, Xbox, and mobile devices access to a slew of new content for the indie title, with the Nintendo Switch version of the game set to receive the update in the near future.
While most would assume that Vampire Survivors’ new, holiday-themed update would be celebrating Halloween given its October release, developer Poncle took a hilariously different approach. Instead of theming the latest update to one of the best games of 2022 around the spookiest of seasons it chose to get a jump start on Christmas with a snowy aesthetic, with Vampire Survivors creator Luca Galante joking that “I hope this patch helps all our players get in the snowy festive spirit!”
The Whiteout patch for Vampire Survivors introduces the snowy stage of Whiteout, a spiky ice weapon called Glass Fandango, new achievements, and more. Players will be able to explore the chilly new setting while controlling a brand new character, as well, with the frosty warrior She-Moon Eeta joining the game’s roster of monster hunters.
To give the new content an appropriately festive feel, the Whiteout update also includes a new music track named Remedy in the Snow. Though a Christmas-themed addition to the game in October might seem a bit out of sync with the seasons, Vampire Survivors’ Whiteout patch looks to offer a hilariously macabre way to get a head start on the holidays.
