Dolby Laboratories, the company which developed plenty of technologies that have enhanced video games, movies, and music, released two new Unreal Engine plug-ins that will make it easier for developers moving forward to implement superior audio and HDR in Dolby in their games.
Starting today, the Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos free plug-ins are now available in Unreal Engine through the official Marketplace, giving developers the chance to enhance the quality of their games using these technologies with just a few clicks.
“With the native integration of Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos into Unreal Engine, it isbecoming even easier for developers to delight players with astonishing visuals andimmersive sound,” said Mahesh Balakrishnan, Vice President of Consumer Entertainment, Dolby Laboratories. “The new plug-ins represent a remarkable milestonein our journey to empower developers with new innovative tools, helping them deliverawe-inspiring games that will captivate players like never before.”
Thanks to the ease of use of these new Dolby plug-ins, we should expect more games to feature the Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos technologies. The first can enhance visuals of any game considerably and deliver highlights up to 40 times brighter and blacks that are 10 times darker than a standard picture, along with colors never seen before on a screen. The second, on the other hand, allows for the creation of more immersive audio mixes. Both plug-ins support the development of games designed for Windows 10/11 and Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
