In an interview for the newly released Uncharted film, actor Rudy Pankow confirms that he was not the actor behind his character Sam Drake's appearance in one of the film's post-credit scenes. Based on the action-adventure video game franchise of the same name, Uncharted went through a gruelingly long development process before finally having director Rubin Fleischer attached to the project in January 2020. Tom Holland was cast in the leading role of Nathan Drake early on in development, making headlines in May 2017 as the legendary game character.
Uncharted follows future adventurer Nathan Drake on one of his earliest missions as he is recruited by treasure hunter Victor Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to uncover a long-lost treasure before rival hunters are able to get their hands on it. Joining Pankow, Holland, and Wahlberg in the Uncharted cast are Antonio Banderas, Sophia Ali, and Tati Gabrielle. After a long period in development, the film was finally released globally in February, surprising many with its box office haul which exceeded initial expectations.

In an interview with THR, Pankow spoke about his acting career throughout the years, spanning his appearances in Uncharted as well as his time on Netflix's Outer Banks. Specifically, when commenting on whether he would be able to return in Uncharted 2, the actor revealed that despite an older and more disheveled version of his character appearing in one of the film's post-credit scenes, he did not reprise his role for that specific scene.
