Because of the film's use of illegal map images, Uncharted has been banned in Vietnam. Uncharted is the long-awaited adaptation of the video game series of the same name, which began with the 2007 PS3 game Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, which then spawned a franchise that now includes over a half dozen sequels and spinoffs. The film, which hit theaters on February 18, 2022, stars Tom Holland as a younger version of the game's hero, the intrepid adventurer Nathan Drake.
In addition to Holland, Uncharted stars Mark Wahlberg, Antonio Banderas, Sophia Taylor Ali, and Tati Gabrielle. The film follows Nathan Drake as he teams up with Sully (Wahlberg) in an attempt to locate a lost treasure from the Magellan expedition and potentially discover the fate of his older brother, who disappeared. Uncharted is currently the #3 highest-performing film in the domestic box office for 2022, behind DC's newest outing, The Batman, and Tom Holland's other project, the record-breaking Spider-Man: No Way Home. Although this will certainly change as Marvel keeps releasing their Phase 4 films throughout the year.
