Will Smith is seen being consoled by his fellow actors, including Denzel Washington, after shockingly hitting Chris Rock on stage at the Oscars 2022. This year's Academy Awards was supposed to be a celebration of the best cinema had to offer in the last 12 months. But despite its rather decent ceremony, it will forever be remembered for the spat between Smith and Rock.
It all started when Rock came out to present Best Documentary. Being a comedian as well as an actor, Rock made some jokes before introducing the nominees, including a jab at Smith's long-time wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith. The joke was a dig about her short hair, comparing her to G.I. Jane. Pinkett-Smith has previously opened up about her struggle with the hair-loss illness called alopecia and was visibly irked by Rock's comments. This was what prompted her husband to get up on the stage and slap Rock. As he returned to his seat, Rock attempted to make light of things, but Smith expletively told him to «keep my wife's name out your f*ckin' mouth!»

ABC censored the cursing that followed and Rock was able to continue with presenting. But what viewers at home didn't see was what happened after the televised ceremony went to commercials. As per US Magazine, fellow actors who were also in attendance consoled Smith following his outburst. The images show Denzel Washington, Bradley Cooper, and Tyler Perry talking with the actor.
