F1 director Joseph Kosinski is reuniting with producer Jerry Bruckheimer for a new .
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the hot package has garnered interest from studios, including Amazon, Apple, Lionsgate, Paramount, and Warner Bros. The Kosinski and Bruckheimer project has led to a bidding war described as moving “quickly and aggressively.”
The Kosinski and Bruckheimer movie has been called “All the President’s Men with UFOs.” The duo is searching for a studio to greenlight the project. The budget has not been determined, and no stars are currently attached.
Attached to write the screenplay is Zach Baylin, the Academy Award-nominated scribe behind 2021’s King Richard. Baylin also penned Creed III, Gran Turismo, and The Order.
Former Air Force officer David Grusch is attached as a consultant on the project. In 2023, Grusch became a whistleblower and testified before Congress, saying the government has been studying UFOs and aliens while concealing information from the public.
Kosinski and Bruckheimer first collaborated on 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick, the sequel to 1986’s Top Gun. Tom Cruise starred as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, an aging pilot sent back to Top Gun to prepare a new class of recruits for a top-secret mission. Released in May 2022, Maverick became a pop culture sensation, grossing over $1.4 billion and receiving six Oscar nominations, including Best Picture.
Kosinski and Bruckheimer will try to capture the success of Maverick this upcoming summer with F1. Directed by Kosinski and produced by Bruckheimer, F1 follows Brad Pitt’s Sonny Hayes, a retired Formula One driver recruited to race again and mentor the Apex Grand Prix team’s talented prodigy (Damson Idris).
F1 races into theaters on June 27, 2025.
