Tobey Maguire has admitted to being blown away by Tom Holland while the two were filming Spider-Man: No Way Home.Spider-Man: No Way Home was the biggest film of 2021. The film marks the MCU's third standalone Spider-Man movie and follows the titular wall-crawler (Tom Holland) as he and Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) attempt a spell which goes wrong, causing characters from previous Spider-Man series to make their way into the MCU. Throughout the film, Holland's Spider-Man must fight against villains from other Spider-Verses, including Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin and Alfred Molina's Doc Ock. He also runs into the two previous live-action incarnations of the character, Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
Maguire was the first actor to take on the role of Spider-Man in the 21st century when he appeared in the Spider-Man trilogy helmed by Sam Raimi. The three films came out between 2002 and 2007 and were a major hit with audiences. The series was even intended to have a fourth installment, however, due to the low critical reaction to Spider-Man 3 and other issues, the film was never made. Instead, the series was rebooted with 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man with Garfield in the role of Peter Parker. Garfield's film had one sequel, before the character was reimagined once again for the MCU in the form of Holland. Spider-Man: No Way Home delighted fans by bringing all three Spider-Men together.
